Berlin is the most eco-friendly city of Germany. Over 30% of the city consists of parks, forests, rivers and lakes. From April till October tourist boats cruise Berlin’s waterways calling at historical sights, picturesque villages, parks and palaces, ducking through some of the 1,500 bridges.

Currywurst or Kebab?

It was reported, that the recipe for our famous “currywurst” was invented by accident. In 1949, Herta Heuwer was bored and experimented with tomato paste, pepper, curry, grated bell pepper and ingredients unknown until today which she poured on top of a sausage. Voilà – the currywurst was born! What a convenient, fashionable idea with unforeseen perspectives.

History about our location

Back in the days, there was a market place where the building of the hotel is located today. The German emperor used to travel from Berlin to his residency in Potsdam (Schloss Sanssouci) via this particular market place. He usually spent the night in “Wrangelschlösschen” which is 200m away from our hotel. It is said, that he already appreciated the flair of this “better” part of Berlin.
