Currywurst or Kebab?

It was reported, that the recipe for our famous “currywurst” was invented by accident. In 1949, Herta Heuwer was bored and experimented with tomato paste, pepper, curry, grated bell pepper and ingredients unknown until today which she poured on top of a sausage. Voilà – the currywurst was born! What a convenient, fashionable idea with unforeseen perspectives.

At the end of the 80s the kebab started establishing itself in Berlin. Because it was relatively cheap, it soon became a famous, basic nourishment. Before leaving Berlin you should definitely have tried the special pita filled with meat, mixed salads and sauce. But be careful and do not order the kebab too spicy. In Berlin, there is a saying "Döner macht schöner!" which means kebab makes you beautiful – this has not been proved but you have to have something to believe in!
